Jody DeMauro Mancini

For years I have had a longing to spark deeper connections but did not have the courage, clarity, or time to even think about attempting anything like this project. Life was hectic as my husband and I were raising our family. Now that our two children are grown, the time was right for me to create The Simple Journey. I discovered the courage, willingness, and openness to show up fully for my journey.

Everyday life has always been and continues to be my greatest teacher. Today, I trust the process of life’s lessons, giving me what I need. I am grateful for having the ability to laugh at myself and the things that happen each day. Sharing my laughter, tears, and joy with the people I love is cherished.

Today, I know that my thoughts, words, and actions matter. This awareness has given me more peace and freedom, and I have discovered that the joy really is in the journey. Having the never-ending support of my husband, children, family, and friends is amazing, and I am incredibly blessed.

In 1987, I was introduced to the miracles of willingness, honesty, and gratitude through a 12-step recovery program, giving me a new opportunity to live more fully. It has worked because I chose to do the work. The program changed my life’s purpose and direction.

Raising three children as a single mother and teaching at a small New England college kept me busy, but I searched for more. I gravitated to educational workshops and personal retreats focused on connection, meaningful conversations, and positive change. This encouraged me to begin my journey and design on The Simple Journey concept - using ordinary words to create awareness.

By living the practice of one day at a time, I know my sense of humor can turn any situation around; it’s a gift I don’t take for granted. No matter the twists and turns a day brings, I find joy in a good line and a funny story, so I never take myself too seriously.

I see my blessings in my seven grandchildren and new great-grandson, who share my laughter, keep me sharp and encourage playfulness. A friend gave me a print in 1987 that hangs in my bedroom - “Some days are simply made for playing,”   words I have come to cherish.

We are a daughter and mother team with backgrounds in teaching and created The Simple Journey with purpose, enthusiasm, and passion. We wrote original reflections and designed a tool to encourage awareness.

This process has been incredibly inspiring for both of us. We have shared pieces of ourselves we would never have dared to explore. We continue to be committed to our Simple Journey and welcome more opportunities to expand conversations through greater appreciation, kindness, and patience - a life lived simply filled with more ease.
